IN THE CASE OF DIMPLED TUBE RADIATORS, THE TURBULENT WAKE DOWNSTREAM FROM THE DIMPLE ASSIST IN TRANSFERRING HEAT FROM THE COOLANT TO THE WALL OF TUBES.

EFFECTIVELY THE DIMPLE ON THE SURFACE OF THE TUBE REDUCES THE THICKNESS OF THE LAMINAR LAYER. HEAT TRANSFER EFFICIENCY GAIN COULD BE BETWEEN 5% AND 10%.
